Over thirty years ago, on a plain in the eastern suburbs of Changsha, Hunan Province, stood two peculiar mounds rising from the fields like horse saddles. Locals called them "Mawangdui," rumored to be the tombs of a noble family from the 9th century. In the 1970s, an accidental discovery revealed a miraculously preserved female corpse dating back over a thousand years to the world.
